The winner of this year’s Ballon d’Or has already been revealed, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo apparently have the inside scoop and already know who will be crowned the world’s best player.
In news that will surprise few, if any, Cristiano Ronaldo is the man the paper claims will be told ahead of Monday’s announcement that he has won a fourth Ballon d’Or.
In a quite incredible year for the Real Madrid forward, he has scooped another Champions League medal and also led Portugal to their first major international trophy as they were crowned Euro 2016 champions.
Francesc Aguilar, a well-connected journalist for the Spanish daily, has revealed the announcement will be made on Monday, December 12 at 7pm, and on Tuesday an exclusive interview with Ronaldo will be published by France Football – the publication that founded the award.
Aguilar claims reporters from France Football will fly to Madrid on Thursday to conduct the interview and take photographs of the Portuguese superstar with the Ballon d’Or trophy.
So, there you have it. Lionel Messi – 5, Cristiano Ronaldo – 4.
